AstroImager 3.0 (231)

Post by Lead_Weight » Fri Jul 28, 2017 8:03 am

I encountered a problem upon first attempting to use this particular version. It would go through the capture sequence, but not write any files to disk. No error messages. Preview looks good, no issues with the camera. Previous beta versions have worked for me. I'm on Sierra 10.12.6, 2015 MacBook Pro.

You're right, fixed in 3.0 (233): http://download.cloudmakers.eu/AI3.0_233.dmg

Thank you for your report, Peter

Tried the new version and it's way more stable. I am using the ASI290MM and could get around 40fps for my planetary imaging. The camera is rated for around 170fps at full resolution (1936x1096) 12ADC. Is there a way to increase the frame rate on the program? Also do you happen to know the settings for a ASI290 for an ISS capture? The image comes out as static in the centre.

Great program!
Cheers

Hi, you may try to download INDIGO control panel (viewtopic.php?f=13&t=85#p560) and experiment with "hight speed" or "usb bandwidth" properties of the camera in "advanced" group (AstroImager should be started to see the device and remember to save configuration in "main" group). I don't have personal experience with ASI290, so I don't know if these properties are present, but suppose, that at least one of them should be there. Peter

Last version (2.3.8) crashes all the times...

Hi Carlos,

I can't reproduce it, but it may be some issue related to saved configuration. First try the following command from terminal before you start AstroImager:

defaults remove eu.cloudmakers.AstroImager "load_indigo_ccd_simulator"

It will uncheck "CCD Simulator" driver in Prefs->INDIGO Drivers, you have to check it again if you want to use it.

If it will not help, try to remove saved configuration of the driver. It is in the folder

~/Library/Containers/eu.cloudmakers.AstroImager/Data/.indigo/

Try to remove everything starting with "/CCD_Imager_Simulator".

Ok, Peter, success. Now it's working fine...

Another thing.
I have three ASI ZWO cameras: ASI 120 MM for guiding and a 224 MC cooled and a 1600 MC cooled for imaging.
When I image with the 224, it's works very well, but when I try whit the 1600 (last version, with hub) look likes there is a... latency. I mean, if I press the infinity loop button, for example, AI takes a first image... and I must to wait for about 15 or 20 seconds until it makes the next image... I press the stop button and try a single image... but nothing. I must to wait for another time for several seconds till the buttons go from grey to black another time. Then press and yes, AI takes the image... Something odd because, I repeat, with the 224 (3.0 usb) and 120 (2.0 usb) all works fine... :?: With the sequence planer I haven't problems. (BTW, remember the "seuqencer" mistake word in the floating text).

PD. Thanks for the MacroDSLR...
Regards.
Carlos.

Hi Carlos,

try to look with control panel at ASI1600 "Advanced" tab, I suppose there is something like "USB bandwidth" or "high speed mode", maybe you can force it to work faster (but you have to find the right tradeoff, it may be unstable). Is your hub USB 3.0? What colour mode do you use?
