New agent with automatic star selection (= if detection mode is "star detection mode" and no star is selected), improved detection algorithm and better lost star handling.

Hi Peter,

Great step! Looking forward to clear skies even more now :-)

An idea; would it enhance guiding if AG selected multiple stars (e.g. 4) in each corner of the image and averaged the deviation. Could this limit deviation due to seeing? Or would the seeing error be identical all over the image? Just wondering.

Regards, Johan

This is great! And I like Johan's idea -- why determine focus on 1 star when you can average over several? Could that avoid the need to stack exposures during autofocus, making the process 3x quicker?

Also this may help with another interesting idea. Instead of determining focus by FWHM, N.I.N.A. has a mode where focus can be determined by counting stars. More stars = better focus. I've never tried that (allergy to Windows) but I've been intrigued.

Can't wait to try this!
