Thank you, Peter. 16 bits are fine. As you say, most of the camera files are up to 16 bits. Just in case I have to do something with the 32 bit file I will with PixInsight. If it's something that can be implemented, great, but 16 bit would be fine.

- a limited 32 bit support for XISF files (lower 16 bits from each value, there is valid info for some more advanced stretching :( )
- metadata support for XISF
- metalAPI support

XISF support is exciting. Have you thought about adding a QuickLook plugin so we can preview these and FITS from the Finder?

Great, it works with "32-bit unsigned integer option" from PixInsight, still white with the other option, "32-bit IEEE floating point". Just a matter to save the Masters with the first option. For QuickLook, if finally can't be implemented, FITS Preview 4 and QuickFITS works perfectly together. But yes, it would be great to have the option to use QuickLook without using a third party option.

Great Peter, love the xsif compatibility!

Tried with the subs that come of my camera and they work fine :-)

To be honest, I never heard about QuickLook until you reported it doesn't work with FITS Preview :) But I'll look at it sometime...

Hi Peter!

I've been happily using V2.4 for a while, but was frustrated with how hard it was to adjust the black and white levels.

Saw this thread and noted the issue with QuickLook in the new version, but then saw that it was apparently fixed.

So I downloaded 4.0.589 and liked what I saw. The fine adjustment of levels was much better. But QuickLook no longer shows me FITS images.

Noticed your new .590 update, and LOVE the new UI. But still no QuickLook.

I'm restarting (and updating to OSX 11.3), hoping that will fix the issue.

Nope. QuickLook still doesn't show the image, just a popup with the file name.

Hm, to be honest, I never got QuickLook really work, this is how it works for me (and doesn't matter if FITS Preview is installed or not). But with older version it doesn't show even this.

Do you have some error message somewhere? Console etc...

Went through the console messages and the systen.log but don't see anything that looks relevant.

It's not an error, per se, so there's nothing in error logs either.

Which makes wonder...how did I get QuickLook to work for FITS files to begin with?

I thought it was thanks to FITS Preview but apparently not.

I'll rummage around and report back.
