What is the difference between AstroImager 4.x and later and 3.x and earlier?

Post by Peter Polakovic »

AstroImager 4.x is a thin and macOS native graphical user interface for an INDIGO server and its imager agent. It can control either embedded or the remote imager agents providing all necessary logic for controlling main imaging cameras, filter wheels and focusers. The physical devices are controlled either by embedded or remote INDIGO drivers.

The most important difference between AstroImager 4.x and later and 3.x or earlier is that earlier versions were thick clients to embedded or remote INDIGO drivers (2 tier architecture), while later versions are thin clients to embedded or remote INDIGO agents (3 tier architecture).
