iPhone connect to SkySafari

Post by osogordo »

I've been toiling through forums and such trying to find the workflow to connect my iPhone version of SkySafari to my mount to control it. Does this require a RaspberryPi device?

I ended up figuring it out.

Specs:
- MBP running Big Sur connected to wifi
- iPhone SE 2020 running iOs 14.2 connected to wifi
- AstroTelescope v4
- SkySafari Pro for iOs v6
- SW EQ6-R Pro

The process I used.
- Start AstroTelescope.
- Ensure Preferences > INDIGO Drivers > Mount Synscan driver is selected
- Toggle the "Server" button at the top. The icon is a small antenna emitting.

- Start SkySafari iOs
- Auto Detect Skyfi is toggled off
- Settings > Setup > IP Address: (macOs name. You can find it in macOs under System Preferences > Sharing. The name is at the very top.)
- Settings > Setup > Port: 4030

With this setup I could connect to and control the mount from my phone and it was everything I hoped it would be.

Hi, you actually don't need (and never should) to start INDIGO Server (it is intended for building distributed setups).

Just start AstroTelescope and in Preferences enable "Start LX200 protocol server". This will start the LX200 agent directly in AstroTelescope.

I don't see this option in the preferences of AT v4. Is this the same as the "LX Server On/Off" toggle button? Also, if IS isn't to be used, how do I access and delete star alignment points?

Oh yes, in v4.0 it is toolbar button.

Every application contains own and you can access it with built in control panel (rightmost toolbar button) the same way as in standalone INDIGO Server.

Yes, can confirm this all works as intended. Will update my original post for clarity
